Last summer's fire came within two miles of my house in the foothills. We had less than an hour to evacuate. Every year the fire risk gets worse and every year I see the same uncovered power lines along the same dry ridges.
I want to understand the state's wildfire mitigation plan for this region:
- What is the timeline for PG&E to bury lines in our area?
- How much CalFIRE funding is actually reaching prevention vs. just response?
- Why are we still getting Public Safety Power Shutoffs instead of permanent infrastructure fixes?
I'm not the only family considering selling because of fire risk. The state needs to be honest about what's actually being done before more communities give up.
